Based in New York and London, Commercial Type was founded by Paul Barnes and Christian Schwartz in 2008. The company publishes retail fonts developed by Barnes and Schwartz, their staff, and outside collaborators, and also creates custom type, logotypes, and lettering commissioned by editorial, institutional, and corporate clients. Their Commercial Type Design Studio focuses on the development of visual identity systems with a strong typographic bend. The creative direction was in close-collaboration with and under the direction of GrayBits.
